Remedy Entertainment Appoints Jean-Charles Gaudechon as New CEO

Markus Maki to continue as interim CEO until March 1

Remedy Entertainment is entering a new chapter.

The studio has officially appointed Jean-Charles “JC” Gaudechon as its new CEO, effective March 1. Current interim CEO and Remedy co-founder Markus Mäki will remain in the role until Gaudechon formally steps in.

The leadership change comes as the Finnish developer continues to expand its ambitions beyond traditional publishing partnerships and push further into self-publishing and long-term franchise growth.

audechon himself described the move as joining Remedy at a “pivotal time.”

“I’m excited and honored to join Remedy at a pivotal time,” he said. “The studio has a unique creative identity and a strong pipeline. My commitment is to protect what makes it special, deliver exceptional games, and scale Remedy in a way that builds lasting value.”

He emphasized the importance of maintaining the studio’s creative voice while expanding its independence in publishing a goal Remedy has been increasingly vocal about in recent years.

“Remedy has the voice and the ambition to be a pillar of the industry’s future. We will stay close to players, earn their time and trust, and strengthen our independence in how we build and publish our games, while continuing to work closely with the partners who have supported us along the way.”

Gaudechon also confirmed he will relocate to Finland with his family to work directly alongside the team at Remedy’s headquarters.

What This Means for Remedy’s Future

The timing of the appointment suggests Remedy is preparing for a more aggressive growth strategy. The studio has steadily built a portfolio of connected projects and expanded its internal capabilities, positioning itself as more than just a developer-for-hire.

With Gaudechon’s background in franchise expansion and global studio leadership, the focus appears clear: scale without sacrificing identity.

Whether that balance can be maintained will define Remedy’s next era. What’s certain is that March 1 marks the beginning of a significant transition for one of the industry’s most distinctive studios.
