For years, Rainbow Six fans have asked the same question: where is Bishop?
At the Six Invitational in Paris, Ubisoft finally answered it.
During the Year 11 roadmap reveal for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, the leadership team confirmed that Bishop the long-absent protagonist of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is officially returning to the Rainbow universe.
The teaser was brief, but the message was clear. A familiar voice cuts through the silence:
“Things must be bad if you’re calling me.”
And just like that, nearly two decades of absence came to an end.
Back in 2008, Bishop served as the customizable protagonist of Vegas 2. Players could choose a male or female version of the character, shaping their own interpretation of Rainbow’s rising star during the events in Las Vegas.
When the dust settled at the end of the game, Bishop was promoted to Deputy Director of Rainbow a significant position within the organization. Then… nothing.
As the series shifted focus and eventually evolved into Siege, Bishop quietly faded into the background. No cameo. No lore update. No closure.
That silence lasted almost twenty years.
What Role Will He Play?
That’s the question hanging over Year 11.
Ubisoft hasn’t yet confirmed whether Bishop will return as a playable Operator, a narrative figure, or something in between. Given his former role as Deputy Director of Rainbow, it’s easy to imagine him stepping back into a command-level position especially if the teaser line is anything to go by.
“Things must be bad if you’re calling me” doesn’t sound like a casual check-in.
It sounds like a crisis.
Year 11 is shaping up to be one of Siege’s most ambitious periods yet. Between major roadmap updates and legacy crossovers, Ubisoft seems determined to bridge old-school Rainbow with its modern live-service evolution.
For veterans who cut their teeth on Vegas 2, Bishop’s return feels personal. For newer Siege players, it’s a chance to meet a character who helped define the franchise’s identity long before Operators and seasonal roadmaps were part of the vocabulary.
Either way, after nearly twenty years in the shadows, Bishop is stepping back into the light.
And if Rainbow is calling him back now, whatever’s coming next probably isn’t small.
