Cornfox & Bros. is returning to Gaia.
The studio has officially announced Oceanhorn 3: Legend of the Shadow Sea, the next chapter in its long-running action RPG series. The game is set to launch exclusively on Apple Arcade on March 5, playable across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.
And this time, the adventure dives deeper than ever literally.
Set one thousand years after the events of Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm, the story shifts to a transformed world. The last floating island of the Sky Realm has fallen into the Shadow Sea, triggering a new era of exploration and danger.
Players will sail the treacherous waters of the Shadow Sea alongside Em, a technopirate captain with a reputation as sharp as her crew aboard the Warlock’s Revenge. Familiar faces return as well, including Blackhat of the Uncharted Seas, tying the sequel firmly to the series’ broader lore.
At the heart of the story lies a looming threat beneath the waves — ancient forces, a mysterious Lost God, and the uncertain future of Red Town.
Designed for Veterans – and Newcomers
While longtime fans will recognize the timeline jump and returning characters, Cornfox & Bros. is positioning Oceanhorn 3 as a fully self-contained experience.
If you’ve never touched the series before, you won’t feel lost. The narrative stands on its own, and the game introduces:
- A refined and reworked combat system
- New traversal mechanics
- A self-contained story arc
It’s both the conclusion of one era and the start of another.
What’s New in Oceanhorn 3?
This installment leans heavily into player freedom and customization.
Key features include:
- A full-length main story packed with lore and narrative twists
- Massive boss encounters against ancient Titans
- Side quests expanding the world of the Shadow Sea
- A redesigned Action-RPG combat system
- Puzzle-solving and expanded exploration
- A skill tree for upgrading and customizing your hero
- The “Stream of Creation” system, allowing players to reconstruct objects, plants, and structures
- Customizable weapon and equipment loadouts
- Enhanced visual fidelity
- A first-person mode – a series first

That final addition is arguably the biggest shift. For the first time in the franchise, players can experience Gaia through a fully immersive first-person perspective, offering a more intimate look at the world’s environments and combat encounters.
A Bigger, Bolder Gaia
The Oceanhorn series has steadily grown in scope over the years, and Legend of the Shadow Sea appears to push that trajectory further. With larger boss fights, deeper RPG systems, and expanded exploration mechanics, the third entry feels positioned as a flagship release for Apple Arcade’s early 2026 lineup.
Whether you’re returning to Gaia after a thousand in-game years or setting sail for the first time, March 5 marks the next chapter.
The Shadow Sea is waiting.
